Locate the roller and use a q-tip (prefferably the long, wooden stick type to easier reach the roller) and isopropyl alcohol to do a thorough cleaning of the roller, then test print again. Already attempted: Restarting the printer. It is worth noting I replaced the ink cartridges recently, but I was able to print a test page after installation without issue. This can happen also if the rubber diameter has worn down so much it needs to be replaced. There is no paper jammed in the printer, and I had no rips in the paper the last time I printed something.

If your pickup/feed roller is dirty from accumulation of paper dust, etc., the page will also slip.

Otherwise, it would signal a paper jam message. My speculation is that the sequence of things I did put it into a state of insanity. This includes setting the printer on its side, removing the cassette, and looking for paper. I believe I followed all the instructions in the MX850 series On-screen Manual for Paper Jams.

If it is and you try to use the thinner plain paper, it will start to pick it up but then may slip but continue to think the paper is there and, hence, continue to print as if it is there. I have looked throughout the printer and found no paper.
